Rainy Day at Lingnan University, Hong Kong

Let me to share my experiences today! At June 22rd, - August 14th, 2015, i will start the Summer Program at Lingnan University, Hong Kong. First day, i just met my friends from another country, do some pre test and take a rest. 

Second day i start activities at Lingnan University, Hong Kong too much happy. Woke up with a million feelings and pray for the best i do today. My feeling is so happy and interested. A lot of new knowledge from today, its about teamwork, hard work, and persistence. The first activity today in the morning is introduction from Lingnan University (lead by Ms. Chloe), introduction one by one, make the rules, and play a game. So, we can recognized the other one. There is a student from India, Taiwan, Korea, Singapore, and Hongkong. After, we indtroduced our self, we learn about Cantonese language. We just learn simply word, like “Hi Everyone” (大家好), and i learned from my Hongkong’s friend, she’s called Sunshine. Not only that, my Hongkong’s friend (Sunshine) learn about Indonesia language, simple words too. There is a test after we learned a Cantonese language, its so funny for this session because i now about new languange (especially the pronounciation). Interesting!

            After that, we got a Cultural Tour in Tuen Mun. That is a game around Tuen Mun, we are splited into two groups and must win the challenges. We have a map around there, the step, and a money for challenges. We use a transportation : MTR. MTR (Mass Transit Railway) is the rapid transit railway system in Hongkong. It is one of the most profitable systems in the world. We must find some food that is a identity of Hongkong, such as Fish Bowl, Egg Tart, Fresh Soya Milk, and Mushrooms Beef (香姑肥牛).  For Mushroom Beef, its so legend and hard to find because that is a old food from Hongkong.

            This Cultural Tour was make tired, but the funny is more than the tired. We walked around the shop, found the elements of the game, like a food, game machine, red pocket, and a cheapest egg. As from Indonesia’s student, i’m very shocked with the people of Hongkong. When we faced at our journey today, there is a people who a little grumpy, bad face when serve a consumer, and angry if only stand quiet (not walking) at the street, so they will nudging us without say sorry. That is different habit with Indonesia’s people.  But, that is a culture, always there’s a differences.

Findings:

1. Habit in Hongkong that i found at the restaurant (not all), that is a wash use hot water to clean utensils, although the equipment is washed using soap, but when we wanted to eat, we cleaned using hot water supplied at the dinner table.
2. Korean, Taiwan, and Hongkong peoples are didn’t like spicy food, because they didn’t eat a spicy food. Size spiciness in Indonesia and that three countries are very different. For me, it was not spicy, but for them is very spicy.
3. When i bought something at supermarket, i must pay the plastic bag IDR 850. Every people must bring own bag, in roder to paperless and plasticless. In Indonesia still free, and i hope Indonesia can apply this way as soon as possible at every shop in Indonesia.

That’s all about my diary today, praise to God for every new knowledge and experiences today. Learn and learn! I’m realize that this life not only sit and see, but we must stand and face everything we see!
